Abstract
Object£ºResidual or recurrent aneurysm may occur after surgical clipping or endovascular treatment. Before endovascular treatment, these aneurysms were treated by reoperation or conservative follow-up. With improved endovascular treatment, we report that the multimodality methods are required to treat these entities with our ten year experience.

Methods£º2506 aneurysms were treated from January 1995 to September 2005, 2164 by surgical clipping, 342 by endovascular treatment and 10 by both methods. Among the ten cases, six were recurrent or residual aneurysms after surgical clipping and the rest were the opposite. Retrospective analysis on the aneurysm location, causes of treatment and method of retreatment were done.

Result£ºThe residual or recurrent aneurysms after endovascular treatment due to coil compaction or incomplete coiling at the first attempt were successfully treated with surgical clipping. In addition, the remnant or recurrent aneurysms after clipping were treated by endovascular treatment with acceptable results.

Conclusion£ºSurgical and endovascular treatment may be applied as complementary method to treat remnant or recurrent aneurysm.
